Traditionally, 'Afghan' rugs were made in Afghanistan. During it's war with Soviet Union and subsequent civil war many Afghan rug-weavers fled Afghanistan and sought refuge in Pakistan and Iran. These families have continued the tradition of making the beautiful Afghan rugs you see here.
